Yaesu FT-450D

CAT control

The FT-450D has a surprisingly rich CAT command repertoire, more software friendly than most radios and much more than other radios in the same price bracket.

However, the CAT manual has a number of errors and several features/behaviors are undocumented.

IF;: Always returns status of selected VFO, not VFO A as stated in manual.
OI;: Always returns status of unselected VFO, not VFO B as stated in manual

MD;: Returns the mode of the selected VFO. Modes for each VFO are independent.

PB#: If PTT is asserted together with playback, the microphone will instead be engaged and there will be no voice memory audio transmitted.
PB7; Transmit contents of voice memory 1.
PB8; Transmit contents of voice memory 2.

MD#: The command only sets the mode of the selected VFO. To set the mode of the unselected VFO, regardless if A or B, it needs to be temporarily selected, e.g. VS1;MD03;VS0;

FA########;/FB########;: Changes made to the unselected VFO are ignored. To set the frequency of the unselected VFO, regardless if A or B, it needs to be temporarily selected, e.g. VS1;FB14023100;VS0;

Forcing the frequency of a VFO with FA/FB will clear RIT.

RC;/RT#;/RU####;/RD####;: The two VFO have independent RIT. Commands RC, RT, RU, and RD only affects the RIT of the currently selected VFO.
