CAT control
The FT-450D has a surprisingly rich CAT command repertoire, more software friendly than most radios and much more than other radios in the same price bracket.
However, the CAT manual has a number of errors and several features/behaviors are undocumented.
IF;:
Always returns status of selected VFO, not VFO A as stated in manual. OI;:
Always returns status of unselected VFO, not VFO B as stated in manual
MD;:
Returns the mode of the selected VFO. Modes for each VFO are independent.
PB#:
If PTT is asserted together with playback, the microphone will instead be engaged and there will be no voice memory audio transmitted.PB7;
Transmit contents of voice memory 1. PB8;
Transmit contents of voice memory 2.
MD#:
The command only sets the mode of the selected VFO. To set the mode of the unselected VFO, regardless if A or B, it needs to be temporarily selected, e.g. VS1;MD03;VS0;
FA########;/FB########;:
Changes made to the unselected VFO are ignored. To set the frequency of the unselected VFO, regardless if A or B, it needs to be temporarily selected, e.g. VS1;FB14023100;VS0;
Forcing the frequency of a VFO with FA/FB
will clear RIT.
RC;/RT#;/RU####;/RD####;:
The two VFO have independent RIT. Commands RC
, RT
, RU
, and RD
only affects the RIT of the currently selected VFO.
